End of year recognition awards

At the end of the school year, we recognise the achievements of individuals and groups of children in our school in the following ways:

Name of AwardDescription
The Anne Thomson Academic Endeavor Award  This award is presented to a pupil for a great attitude to learning, perseverance/achievement. This does not have to be the highest attaining pupil, but perhaps someone who has made great progress. Nominations from all staff welcome. Awarded at end of year celebration assembly.
The Gus MacKerracher School Vision AwardClass teachers count vision vouchers and pass on name and number to SLT. All nominees receive a badge and the child who has embodied the vision to the greatest extent receives the cup with a replica to keep. Awarded at end of year celebration assembly.
Commitment to SportClass teachers nominate a child in their class who has shown a ‘commitment to sport’ with great ability and/or attitude. Awarded at end of year celebration assembly.
Sports day participation medalsEach staff member should nominate a child from his or her sports day house group for a participation medal – to be given out at end of year celebration assembly.
House CupAwarded to the House with the most points over the year – House Reward arranged for the end of the school year. Shared with children at the previous week’s assembly.
Sports day winning house cupAwarded to the House with the most points at Sports Day. Announced at end of year celebration assembly.
