The experiences and outcomes under Curriculum for Excellence are written at five levels, with progression to qualifications described under the senior phase. The path most young people are expected to follow through the levels during the different stages is set out below.
|
Level |
Stage |
|
Early |
The pre-school years and P1, or later for some |
|
First |
To the end of P4, but earlier or later for some |
|
Second |
To the end of P7, but earlier or later for some |
|
Third and Fourth |
S1 to S3, but earlier for some |
|
Senior Phase |
S4 to S6 in school/college/other types of study, until the age of 18 |
Some children and young people will start learning at these levels earlier and others later, depending upon individual needs and aptitudes. The framework is, however designed to be flexible in order to permit careful planning for those with additional support needs, including those who, for example, have a learning difficulty and those who are particularly able or talented.
At Ratho Primary School, we report on your child’s learning in a number of different ways including:
- Weekly Class Padlet Updates
- informal chats
- telephone calls
- emails
- class assemblies
- ‘Sharing the learning’ events, where you will be invited to come in and learn with your child
- Family consultations
- End of Session Progress Point Reports
You will be invited to attend 2 formal family consultations each session. This session these will be in November and March
Parents and carers will also receive an end of year summary report called a ‘Progress Point Report’. Please remember, you can contact the school at any time out with these to informally discuss your child’s progress.
