Primary 4 and 4/5 Sharing the learning event
It was lovely to see Primary 4 and Primary 4/5 sharing their learning about the environment and the global development goals with their Eco Fashion Show and Eco pots. The children were so confident in showing off their eco-friendly clothes and bags and sharing their understanding of the issues that face our planet. Well done everyone!
We have been developing the room next to our office over the past few weeks into a space to work with the children in different groups with a focus on emotional well-being. We asked the children to suggest names for the room that made us think of a calm, natural space. The chosen name came from Orla in P7 and was The Treehouse. We look forward to sharing more about the Treehouse with you over the coming months and know it will be a good addition to our school.
P6 bake sale
Pupils in Primary 6 ran a bake sale this Tuesday as part of their work in Building Resilience. All children in the school are working on the ‘Have a goal’ topic this term and the pupils in P6 decided that their goal was to raise funds for cancer research. Thanks to your generous donations of baking they were able to raise £77.87 for their chosen charity! Well done P6!
Maths Youtube channels
Below are a couple of YouTube channels that might be useful if you are supporting children’s maths at home:
Maths 4 kids
Maths 4 kids is a channel with key ideas in maths explained by children for children:
Mr G helpdesk
Mr G is now maths development officer for the authority and has his own YouTube channel also explaining key ideas in maths.
Dr Elaine Smith
We welcomed clinical psychologist, Dr Elaine Smith, of Corstorphine Psychology Services. She is publishing a book called Worry Rhymes for School Times and was in school to talk to the children about her ideas. We look forward to seeing the finished product!
Have a lovely weekend,
