Another busy week at our school!
P6 touch rugby tournament
Many of our P6 pupils attended the touch rugby tournament. We were incredibly proud of the team who won an award for great sportsmanship! Well done P6!
Professor Andrew Sweetman
We had the pleasure of Andrew Sweetman joining us at our second level assembly to talk about his work in marine biology. Professor Sweetman is venturing to the depths of the ocean in December to research marine life and spoke to the children about the submarines used in addition to telling us about the weird and wonderful creatures that can be found down there! Each child at second level will decorate a polystyrene cup which Andrew will take down to the depths and the pressure is so great that the cups will be squeezed into miniature versions before being returned to the children as an amazing souvenir! Professor Sweetman had to get special permission from the US Navy to take the cups down so we are delighted that the children are able to have this amazing learning experience.
Road Safety Magic Show
Our P1-3 children enjoyed the road safety magic show on Thursday from Road Safety Edinburgh. This was a fun way of teaching the children about being safe around our roads. I’m sure you’ll agree how important this is at this time of year with dark nights and busy roads. Many thanks to Road Safety Edinburgh for supporting this.
Outdoor and indoor shoes
Another plea to ensure your children have indoor shoes for school. We have lovely new flooring that we want to keep as clean as possible. Black plimsolls can be purchased at all major supermarkets. Should you require any support with this then please don’t hesitate to contact the school office.
We are looking at bolstering our play resources in school and I am mindful that families might be having a sort out before Christmas and a Spring clean in the New Year! If you have any of the following items then we would welcome donations:
- Wooden toys
- Train sets
- Small world toys e.g. farm animals, people.
- Toy cars and other forms of transport
- Dressing up clothes
- Construction toys e.g. Lego, Duplo, K-Nex, etc.
- Garden games for outside
- Old kitchen utensils for outside ‘Loose Parts Play’
Have a lovely weekend,
